Hi , did you install the 3 pole switch, if so was the USB port usable when not used by BT.
What BT dongle did you purchase.
Does it come with software or what software you advise using.

Could you please give me the specs.
I have a 700m too and would really appreciate your help on this.

Thanks!!
Barry

First you pry off the plastic hinge cover. Start from the left side. You will see a small opening where you can insert a small flat screwdriver or so. Do it slowly and carefully. Do not overbend.

Once the hinge cover is off, you need to unscrew two screws holding the keyboard in place, at the top. Once they are out, very carefully lift the keyboard but DO NOT move it excessively. Remember, there is a delicate cable attaching the keyboard to the motherboard. That needs to come out too for safe operation.

Once the keyboard is out, the last thing to remove is the metal cover over the RAM module, which is also held in place by two screws. It is in the middle you will recognize it.

Hi there,
On your video about the Dell 700m with a dark LCD, you say you pinpointed the problem to being the inverter. I have an Inspiron with a dark LCD as well - is there a way to easily tell if it’s the backlight, the LCD, or the inverter?

Thanks,

Thane

Well, everytime I turned it on the LCD worked for a while so I thought it cannot be the backlight. The LCD sreen was producing image (visible even when the backlight is off) so that rules out LCD. My first thought was the inverter since it drives the backlight. I tried to test it with a multimeter but I am pretty sure I fried it by shorting something out on it (very small circuit, I touched something I should not have).

Ordered a new inverter, put it on, intermittent failure occured again. Sooo, finally I realize that the mini switch on the top right corner of the motherboard that senses the position of the lid is shot. It was practically torn apart. I had to carefully fix its moving piece to the “up” position which basically “tricks” the computer into thinking that the lid is always open, thus the inverter gets the signal to turn on the backlight.

Hope it helps.

Looking for replacement parts for my brothers Fulmer Modeus AF-M helmet, (I have one also) and came across this link.

http://www.fulmerhelmets.com/recall/Recall_consumer_letter.pdf

Found you entry on your blog about your helmet so thought you might want to check your helmet to see if it’s effected.

Good Luck

Yes, I have read that letter too. Apparently, Medium size (which I have) is not affected. Only XL, XXL and XXXL AF-M type helmets are recalled.

Thank you for the warning.

Hi Orhan, I tried to upgrade the ram of my dell 700m but I have problem prying out the front plastic hinge cover from the left side. It feels like the cover could snap and break any moment when I inserted a flat letter opener to pry open it so I did not dare to exert to much force.

Would appreciate if you could post some pics or video would be even better regarding that. Thanks…

1. Where can I find a diagram that step-by-steps me through adding (2) 1GB RAM sticks to my Dell Inspiron 700M?

2. One of my USB ports cracked. WHere can I get a replacement part and how hard is it to replace it?
THANKS!
Ray

Hi Orhan,
I am facing the problem of Dim LCD on my 700m. Ur blog is very informative. I want to check the acutator mentioned in your September 8, 2007 response to Efneri. I am not able to understand how it works. Can you provide more illustrations. Few snaps would definately help. Also how to fix it ? positions before and after fix . I would like to try fixing the switch and then decide on replacing the inverter (if needed).
Thanks in advance.
Mithu
